Renee founded The Straightening Salon after living the struggle firsthand. As a busy first-time mum, she battled what she affectionately called her “Hagrid Hair” for years. She eventually discovered permanent straightening, and it restored her confidence. This personal experience inspired her to build a business entirely around it.

Permanent Straightening Treatments

The team tailors every treatment to each client’s hair type and goals. Their signature permanent straightening treatment uses low-tox, formaldehyde-free formulas. These formulas condition hair from within, not just the surface. Results typically last six to nine months and grow out gradually at the roots.

Whether a client manages thick curls, resistant frizz, or simply wants a low-maintenance look, their team customises every step. For sensitised or bleached hair, they take a gradual, protective approach.

Semi-Permanent Straightening Treatments

For clients who’d rather soften their natural texture than eliminate it, the salon offers semi-permanent treatments. These treatments reduce frizz and improve manageability while preserving natural wave. The results fade naturally over three to five months.

Depending on your hair type, clients can heat-activate the results or let them air-dry. Most clients get the best finish when they air-dry 80% and finish with a blast of heat.
