About the Movie

PRESSURE is a World War II historical drama and political thriller directed by Australian filmmaker Anthony Maras. Based on the acclaimed stage play by David Haig, it moves the focus away from the battlefields and into the nerve-wracking decisions that shaped modern history.

In the tense hours before the Normandy landings in June 1944, the fate of the free world hangs in the balance. Captain James Stagg, Britain’s Chief Meteorological Officer, must deliver the definitive weather forecast to Supreme Allied Commander General Dwight D. Eisenhower. Stagg detects a major storm system approaching the English Channel, one that could ruin the landings and trap Allied troops. But his prediction clashes with that of American meteorologist Irving P. Krick, who confidently forecasts clear skies.

With the lives of 350,000 soldiers at stake, Eisenhower faces an impossible choice: launch the largest and most dangerous seaborne invasion in history, or risk losing the war altogether. The film shows that the success of D-Day relied not just on firepower, but on reading the wind and waves.

PRESSURE stars Andrew Scott as Captain James Stagg and Brendan Fraser as General Dwight “Ike” Eisenhower. They are joined by Kerry Condon as Kay Summersby, Chris Messina as Irving Krick and Damian Lewis in the ensemble cast.
